DMX (born Earl Simmons) is an American rapper, songwriter and actor. He is known for his gruff voice and intense lyrics, which often explore themes of inner-city struggle and hardship. DMX has released several albums since his debut in 1998, including 'It's Dark and Hell is Hot' (1998), 'Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood' (1998), 'And Then There Was X' (1999), 'The Great Depression' (2001), 'Grand Champ' (2003), and 'Year of the Dog…Again' (2006). He has also appeared in several films and television shows, including 'Belly' (1998), 'Romeo Must Die' (2000), 'Cradle 2 The Grave' (2003) and 'Exit Wounds' (2001). He has sold over 30 million records to date and has received numerous awards and accolades.
